Google Is About to Buy Digg, and I Hope They Do!

Sam Traveler - There have been rumors for a while on the possible acquisition of Digg by the Mountain View behemoth. Yesterday TechCrunch reported that the negotiations should be on the final stage. The price tag is around $200 million, and Digg would be joining the Google News umbrella.
Let me tell you, I really hope this deal goes forward. Why? Because I do like the way Google does business. Sure, some webmasters have a problem here and there with them, but overall you can’t deny that Google is very transparent and open. Think about search engine optimization and the Webmaster Central. Google always made it clear what you should and should not be doing, and they walk their talk pretty much on all situations.
The same, however, cannot be said about Digg. The supposedly democratic social bookmarking and news sharing website was caught in the past under suspicious censorship activity several times. Even today you have strong evidence on the existence of the Auto-bury list, which they never confirmed or did anything about.
So overall I think that if Google get control over Digg things might improve. Some followers of the Kevin Rose cult might end up leaving, but I am sure the website will continue going strong, hopefully with more transparency.
